Sunday Fun-day

These pictures were taken this past Sunday afternoon.  Bryan came running in the house after stepping outside for a minute to grab the camera.  The sunset was beautiful and he wanted a picture of it with the house.  We ended up taking random shots of us all outside too.  These were just a couple of them.

Guess what??!!  I just got my new running glasses today!  They are the bomb!!  They are Tifosi Wisp's in Pink/White!  I love them!  I already took a nice jaunt in them tonight when the weather was a bit cooler.  I'll have to take a picture with them on....then maybe those slightly showing crows feet won't show! ;o)

I am exchanging my new Brooks shoes for my trusty Asics Gel Nimbus style.  Road Runner Sports is an amazing company that lets you run in your shoes for  90 days and if you don't love them, they'll exchange them for you!  Where have they been all my running life!!??  So awesome!!  I am excited to get the Nimbus 14's.  The Brooks were great, they just didn't have enough cushion for my feet.  I am sure they are awesome shoes for someone else....just not me.  My new one's are going to be pink....ALL pink!!  So sa-weet!!  :O)

Happy Running!!

No! No! Broken Toe!!!

I am totally bummed!!  A few days ago I was walking in my kitchen to my sink and I got too close to a bar stool and smacked my pinky toe right up against it!  Ouch....to say the least!!  It was instantly turning blue and getting swollen.  I iced it right away.  I decided that it felt ok while I was walking around on it so I decided to get my awesome Brooks Glycerin 10's on and go for a run......

Once I got out on the road I could tell my other toes were compensating for the pain and my feet were cramping up.  What started out as a 4 miler ended up a 2.7 miler as fast as my broken toe would allow.  I finished in about 28 minutes.  But I was glad to give my toe a rest since I was meeting up with some awesome friends to go on a run with them about 30 minutes later.

I tried taping my toe but I think I did it wrong....the blood wasn't circulating very well.  So off came the tape and I put my socks and shoes back on and went for a leisurely jog with them.  It was so fun to talk about motivating eachother with our goals.  These are my friends that I am going on the cruise with in February!  We can't wait!

Anyway, I watched some tutorials on youtube for how to tape a broken pinky toe.  I think I got it right.  It doesn't hurt and I'm hoping it gets better soon.  I decided to wait until Monday to try running on it again but I seriously can't imagine waiting another day.  I may try it tomorrow since in my mind I am secretely hoping that my toe isn't broken....just sprained or really bruised....that way it will heal faster and I can run again!  (Hey, a girl can dream, right??!)  I've also been rubbing this awesome doTerra oil that my friend gave me a sample of.  It's supposed to aide in healing broken bones and sprains.....So here's to the oil!!!  I hope it's working!

Happy Running!!

Cruise to Lose or Lose to Cruise?

So yesterday came and went without a post but new habits are hard to form!  But at least I'm trying, right!?

Well, a couple of friends of mine and I have been talking about needing some motivation to achieve our goals....fitness goals.  The idea of a cruise was thrown out there and it caught like wild fire!  One friend started searching and then I caught the bug of researching it and we found one that we thought would be so fun to go on.  I didn't think it would be that hard to twist our husbands arms to come on a cruise with all of us....and I was right!  For no later than a few hours, we had booked a fun cruise to Mexico!  How crazy are we!!  We are so excited and can't believe we're actually going.

We've entitled our trip....."Lose to Cruise".  We're going to be putting together focus boards to help us remember our goal and stick to it!

Well, one of the BEST things happened to me today to help me with my goal..... My new running shoes arrived!!  I got the new Brooks Glycerin 10's and they are not only totally cute (charcoal gray and hot pink) but they fit my feet like pillows from heaven!  I can't wait to take them on a test run!  Hopefully Bryan will come home at a decent time so I can get out there....even for a short 4-miler.  My Asics Gel Nimus 13's are totally on their way out....I can tell the cushion is flat and not much support.  Plus my knees are starting to feel every step.  The best thing about it is that I got them from www.roadrunnersports.com and I saved 20% and got FREE shipping!!  Totally saved me some $$!  That definitely makes me happy!

Inspiration Sunday

Today I felt inspired. Bryan (my husband) was called out to work today. (He works for a HV/AC company). That meant that I was alone in keeping all four munchkins quiet during church.  That's a huge task all on its own!  ;o)  But before leaving for church, we knelt in prayer asking for an extra measure of help to keep everyone as reverent as possible.  That was inspired.  I only had to escort one child out of sacrament meeting for spitting in his sisters eye.  (That's progress!)

Once church was over, we headed home for that microwaveable goodness called Stouffer's Lasagna. My kids magically set the table and played nicely, without fighting, until lunch was all ready.  The littlest munchkin (Reid) had a quick bite to eat and off he went for a much needed nap, which we affectionatly call "mimi time".

Bryan made an appearance a couple of times.  It seems that on a hot day, people just can't time it right to have their AC's break down all in sequence.  For no sooner did Bryan appear at home to eat or rest, than his work phone (a.k.a. The Brick) would beep and off he'd go again!  Oh well..... 'tis the life of a service man!

After checking emails, browsing facebook and catching up on my favorite blog....www.hungryrunnergirl.com, I began to feel inspired again....Why not create my own blog!?  I have been inspired by the posts of some of these blogs and I thought, "I need to document my life too!"  Journal writting is hit and miss these days but how often do I check email, facebook and blogs!?  So, I googled how to set up my own blog and found a youtube video of a guy walking you through the steps.....I'm grateful for the tutorial but his accent was a bit thick, so I decided to go solo on this one!  So far so good!

Well, since today is Sunday and I don't do any running or exercising on Sunday's it gives me a chance to be, yet again, inspired for the upcoming week!  It's going to be a scorcher this week so most of my running will probably be on the treadmill.  I'd go early in the morning but Bryan leaves for work at the crack of dawn most days.... so it's either an evening run or the treadmill.  Either way, it gives me a much needed endorphin rush to make me smile! :O)
